Short
courses on geothermal resources (1-5 days) and epithermal mineralization (1-2 days) are offered
for delivery anywhere in the world.
Geothermal lectures can be tailored for
specialist and non-specialist audiences, including groups with
no scientific background. They are designed to improve
understanding of resources so that they can be managed
effectively to serve a diversity of stakehold interests.
Epithermal lectures describe the
hydrothermal processes that produce gold-silver deposits and
the surrounding hydrothermal alteration.
The
7 day field trip to NZ geothermal areas and epithermal deposits
is run every 2-3 years (last run 1-7
October, 2015). It provides an overview of the
volcanic-tectonic setting, hydrology, fluid chemistry, alteration, and
mineralization in hydrothermal systems of the North Island of New
Zealand. The itinerary includes visits to the Champagne Pool
at Waiotapu, White Island volcano, and gold-silver deposits
in the Coromandel peninsula. Next likely trip is Gold
2017 (Feb 2017) in Rotorua.
Field trips through NZ geothermal areas and
epithermal deposits can be arranged for companies on request.
